We get this question a lot, and the reality is, that you DON'T have to be certified to become a supplier to the government. But understand that the playing field in the supplier world is extremely competitive. Often times, small businesses are outbid by larger corporations, or not even considered due to an inability to show performance history at a level that gives a procurement officer confidence that they can deliver. You're probably thinking, well I just need a shot to prove that I can compete, right? Well that's were certifications come in. The government has a certain number (percentage wise) of its budgeted spend allocated for small business enterprises to compete for without the threat of the competitive challenges mentioned above. What we teach in our programs is that certifications creates an opportunity for you to be able to compete on a more level playing field. It's a pathway to government contracting, but not the only way. The government literally purchases everything it needs from suppliers, and there's just not enough certified small businesses to make the government adhere to it's own purchase standards. Our program is working to change this narrative, one small business at a time!

As previously mentioned, the government - at the local, state, and federal levels purchases EVERYTHING! The government is the largest consumer of goods and services in the world. What we teach in our program is to stop thinking about if the government will buy what you sell, and start thinking about how you can be a solution for what the government is looking to purchase. That subtle difference is relevant in government procurement or if your selling at your local flea market. An element in the psychology of sales is to stop thinking like a seller and start thinking like a buyer! But I digress....remember the purpose of certifications. We cover this in even more detail inside of our programs.
